What Is Voot?
Voot is an Indian video-on-demand (VOD) service similar to Netflix and Prime Video. It is a product of Viacom 18, a joint venture between Viacom and TV18. The company launched it in 2016 as a free ad-led streaming platform for cord-cutters in the country.
Today, Voot has over 50 million monthly active users, making the second-largest player in the premium ad-led VOD market. But despite reaching these staggering figures in such a short time, the service is still a long way from its biggest competitor, Hotstar.
The latter has more than 150 million active users per month, and has a broader selection of shows, especially on the international front.
